Man United are showing an interest in signing Mason Mount this summer.
Manchester United Football Club have been evolving under Erik ten Hag, with the Dutchman’s squad beginning to take shape.
Slowly but surely, you get the feeling something special is being built by United at this moment in time, though it largely depends on the upcoming summer transfer window. Our manager simply has to be backed.
Several names have already been linked with an Old Trafford switch. Including Chelsea’s Mason Mount. The Englishman is backing the headlines again.
It’s The Telegraph with the latest information on Mount, with United ‘thought to be showing an interest’ in signing the 24-year-old. Liverpool and Manchester City are also keen.
As things stand, Mount’s contract talks are stalling with Chelsea, whose current deal expires in 2024. This summer could be Chelsea’s final opportunity to part with Mount for a transfer fee, or they could risk losing him for nothing in a little over twelve months’ time.
Mount is someone who has divided opinions at Stamford Bridge due to his inconsistent performances. The Englishman often blows hot and cold, while Chelsea’s massive spending has meant that Mount’s minutes have decreased somewhat.
There’s no doubt that several clubs from all over Europe would look to bring in Mount on a free transfer, purely because there’s very little downside to signing a player of his quality without any sort of fee involved.
From a United standpoint, it’d mean more rest for Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen, which, in the long run, can only be a good thing. It all comes down to whether Mount is serious about leaving Stamford Bridge during the upcoming window.
