Man United have eyes on Bayern Munich right-back, Benjamin Pavard
Three signings are through the door at Manchester United with Erik ten Hag’s squad slowly starting to take shape. The Old Trafford club are looking sharp in pre-season, though there’s still much work to be done.
Further signings are required, with Frenkie de Jong looking like the number one target. A new right-back seems to be on the list of priorities too, particularly if Aaron Wan-Bissaka is eventually moved on.
Enter, Benjamin Pavard.
Claims this morning were linking the Red Devils with a move to acquire the Bayern Munich defender. We’ve done some digging, with Sport Witness relaying the information, originating in L’Equipe‘s Thursday print edition.
Apparently, United are showing interest in the 26-year-old right-back, who can also play as a centre-half if required. The Old Trafford club aren’t alone in that chase, mind, with Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Juventus also thought to be in the picture.
It’s believed that United ‘have indicated that Pavard is on the Reds’ ‘recruitment list’, though none of the interested parties have made an official offer to Bayern Munich just yet.
To us, it feels somewhat obvious that Erik ten Hag isn’t completely sold with the right-back options at the club, hence United are continued to be linked with bringing in a player in that area.
Pavard is someone who has enjoyed great success at both domestic and international level, while the experience and qualities he’d bring to Old Trafford shouldn’t be understated.
I do believe it’ll be tough for United to win this transfer race, though. All the other clubs credited with interest have Champions League football on the table, whereas United do not have that luxury right now.
