Man United have added young striker, Silva Mexes, to their academy after acquiring the forward from Ipswich Town.
Manchester United Football Club have always been known to promote youth and give these players a chance at the highest level. Despite all their flaws of late, I still firmly believe Old Trafford is the best place in the world for any emerging starlets out there.
With money tight for INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe this summer, do not be surprised to see the Red Devils continue to make more signings of younger players, with a long-term goal and plan in place.
Although the transfer market doesn’t officially open for a couple of weeks yet, United are not hanging around. They’ve completed the signing of young striker, Silva Mexes, from Ipswich Town.
Mexes held the #7 shirt aloft along with his father, Robert Earnshaw, at Old Trafford today as he signed on the dotted line. Earnshaw himself had an excellent career within the game, so Mexes has the perfect mentor watching over him as he starts his life within the beautiful game.

It’s always tough to gauge exactly how these young players will develop, particularly as Mexes is still just fourteen years of age. It’s incredible to think that he’s already been earmarked as a player for the future, though a lot can change over the next few years before he’s even under consideration for genuine first-team minutes.
For now, it’s about remaining grounded and not letting the pressure of joining the biggest club in the country get to him. That’s why it’s handy having someone like Earnshaw around, who knows the intricacies of how it works within this sport.
I would like to welcome Silva to the club. I genuinely do hope he goes on to have a long and fruitful career at the Theatre of Dreams.
