Man United complete signing of young defender Jack Kingdon

Man United have completed the signing of young defender, Jack Kingdon.

The Red Devils acquired the 15-year-old centre-back from League Two side Morecambe, as Manchester United continue to press on with improving their academy team.

Kingdon is a quick centre-half, who, according to the Manchester Evening News, has shown ‘huge promise’ in action for Morecambe. Apparently, he’ll initially join up with the United U16 side, though you’d imagine in the not too distant future the defender will move up to the U18s age group.

Kingdon took to Twitter to confirm that United had signed him, while the starlet admitted he is ‘honoured & proud’ to be a part of this ‘special’ club.

As we’ve said time and time again, there is no better place on English shores to learn your trade as a footballer. United have never shied away from giving youth a chance and no doubt that’s why Kingdon and his family chose Old Trafford as is next destination.

Kingdon will look at players like Brandon Williams and Mason Greenwood, looking to follow their lead and break into the first-team as a teenager.

For now, though, it’s about impressing the coaches at youth level and continuing to work hard. Eventually, those chances will come but first Kingdon must get used to his new surroundings. United will definitely give him time to do exactly that before thrusting him into the spotlight.

On what is a very special time for the whole Kingdon family, here at Old Trafford Faithful, we’d like to welcome you all to the biggest club in the country with open arms! We promise you’re going to love it here.

Welcome to Old Trafford, Jack!
