After much anticipation, the early Man United squad news vs Manchester City is now in.
To this point, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done an incredible job at Manchester United. Tonight, though, we’re going to need to see progress. This is our fourth semi-final attempt under the Baby Faced Assassin. We have to make that next step and reach our first final under his leadership.
Solskjaer has several big decisions to make in regards to what personnel and/or formation to opt for tonight. Does he risk injury to his regular starters? Does he risk being dumped out of the cup due to rotating too heavily. It’s a fine balance.
Well, now we know the players Solskjaer will be choosing from. The Reds have seemingly named a 20-man squad for the derby, with one star making his injury return; Victor Lindelof. Solskjaer told the media he was back in training earlier today.
Man United squad in full vs Man City (via Manchester Evening News):
De Gea, Henderson; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Bailly, Tuanzebe, Telles, Shaw; McTominay, Matic, Fred, Pogba, Van de Beek, Fernandes, Mata; James, Greenwood, Martial, Rashford.
In regards to who is available, United’s hand is far stronger than City’s. Pep Guardiola has one hand tied behind his back due to his squad being wrecked by COVID-19-related issues.
That doesn’t win a football match, though. We have to remember Solskjaer is going against one of the best manager’s in the world. With the pressure of a semi-final looming large, we need to remain calm and ensure we’re left celebrating at full-time here.
The prize for the winner? A game against Jose Mourinho and Tottenham Hotspur.
Hopefully, Solskjaer gets it spot on and those players perform at the adequate level. If we play up to our capabilities, I have full faith in United coming out on top.
