Man United star injured in training just days before World Cup opener

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has suffered a slight injury in training, in England’s final training session before they jetted off to Russia.

That’s according to The Guardian, with Gareth Southgate confirming the news on Tuesday afternoon.

The Three Lions’ secret weapon had an absolutely brilliant game against Costa Rica last Thursday, scoring from 30+ yards out to help England to a 2-0 victory, that will no doubt have got the confidence flowing.

To hear that Rashford has picked up an injury, albeit minor, is concerning. It’ll no doubt affect Southgate’s thought process when he’s picking the starting line-up to take on Tunisia. Now the 20-year-old’s chances at starting have taken a major knock.

I guess if we’re being sensible, though, it’s best to ensure that Rashford is back to 100% before risking him. The last thing the lad from Wythenshawe wants is an injury to worsen, thus ruling him out of the tournament completely.

England will host an open training session in Russia tomorrow, where all eyes will no doubt be on Rashford, as everyone will be keen to see how well he’s moving and trying to work out whether he’s in any physical pain.
