Manchester United need to head in a different direction. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been tasked with doing just that.
The Baby Faced Assassin is trying to ensure the Reds rediscover their identity of trusting in youth and being amongst the hardest working teams. He’s going to need time to do that, while we’ve already been given a glimpse into what some academy products can offer.
Amongst those is Tahith Chong. The fluffy-headed Dutchman made four first-team appearances this season, including a debut against Reading in the FA Cup.
Whether regular first-team minutes are on the table for Chong remains to be seen, but he could be offered week-in-week-out football elsewhere.
There’s no doubt that the 19-year-old needs to make that next step within the game. He’s just too good to be playing PL2 football now, and if United aren’t planning on using him regularly, then a loan to a top Greek side wouldn’t be the worst idea.
We’ve seen how well Dean Henderson has done out on loan this season, so Chong could be looking to make a similar impact – before coming back to Old Trafford a much better player in twelve months’ time.
