Man United ‘start discussions’ with Corentin Tolisso’s entourage, £31m price-tag: report

Despite the January arrival of Bruno Fernandes, it seems as though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still looking to add depth in midfield.

Don’t forget that the Red Devils lost both Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera and never really replaced either. Factor in an ageing Nemanja Matic and a Paul Pogba whose future remains up in the air, and the Baby Faced Assasin would definitely be wise to explore his options in the middle of the park, at the very least…

Well today, RMC’s Mohamed Bouhafsi has thrown a familiar name into the mix; Corentin Tolisso.

It’s not the first time the Frenchman has been mentioned with a potential Old Trafford switch, though Bouhafsi took to Twitter last night to offer us an intriguing update…

Apparently, United have ‘started discussions’ with the entourage of the 25-year-old, who has a ‘price-tag of just £31m (€35m).

Tolisso moved to Bayern Munich in 2017 with promise aplenty, however, injuries and a lack of first-team opportunities have certainly stunted his growth and development.

He’s still talented, perhaps a move away is what’s required. At £31m it could be a risk worth taking – but only if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees him as a player who’d fit into his philosophy. If there’s any doubt whatsoever, approach with caution as Bayern rarely get it wrong with players and there’s a reason they are looking to sell.

Personally, I’d like to see United go after a more defensive-minded midfielder, someone who can replace Matic when he moves on in a season or two – but who are we to judge Solskjaer, who has nailed every single transfer decision he’s made so far…?
