Manchester United Football Club are braced for a big summer. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is definitely building something at Old Trafford, with results definitely trending upwards over the last week or so.
The Reds now sit just three points off the top-four as they look to pile the pressure on Chelsea in the race for a spot in next season’s Champions League.
When the summer comes around, more money will have to be spent. A name that we’ve covered constant links to is Jack Grealish.
Today, the Manchester Evening News have a pretty important update for us United fans in that regard. They say that the Old Trafford club has stepped up their interest in Aston Villa’s star 24-year-old.
Furthermore, the MEN understands that the Reds want a deal done early in the summer, with the club conscious that Grealish could make his England debut, then play some part in the European Championships. That could cause his value to skyrocket and obviously, United want to pay as little as possible.
Grealish is just a joy to watch, isn’t he? If Paul Pogba is to leave, in terms of replacement, I genuinely don’t’ think it gets any better. It’d allow Bruno Fernandes to play deeper, then Grealish can start in that #10 slot that suits him perfectly. You factor in Marcus Rashford, then this team suddenly looks like one capable of going toe-to-toe with the very best.
What I find most impressive about Grealish is the swagger in which he plays with. That confidence, borderline arrogance is needed to make it at the highest level – and I don’t doubt he’d light up Old Trafford on a regular basis due to that determined, elite-level attitude.
