Man United continue to be linked with a potential move to acquire Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton.
Manchester United Football Club have been dealt a major blow, with Rasmus Hojlund set to miss at least the first month of the season through injury.
Without the young Dane, the Reds’ striker options are incredibly threadbare. Joshua Zirkzee has admitted he’s more a ‘9.5’ than an out-and-out number 9. It’s why the club will not let Ethan Wheatley leave on loan this month as they need all the help they can get up top.
Now, it seems that the Old Trafford club have not yet completely ruled out signing a striker, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin still being eyed. That’s according to Dharmesh Sheth.
According to his information, the striker who has scored 54 Premier League goals in his career, is being ‘discussed’ by United for a possible transfer during this window.
However, it is not a priority at this point and United are ‘unlikely’ to make a move in that area unless there are player sales.

Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin one of number of forwards discussed by Manchester United in this transfer window. As it stands, not a priority position & United unlikely to reinforce in that area unless there are sales. Calvert-Lewin into final year of contract. #MUFC #EFC

The fact that Calvert-Lewin is entering into the final year of his Everton contract probably makes this deal slightly more attractive for the Old Trafford side.
However, Calvert-Lewin has been poor for a couple of seasons. Largely due to injury. When you’re trying to bring in support for someone who is injured, it’s probably not the wisest idea to go out there and sign someone with a horrific treatment table record.
