Man United still think they have a chance at signing Declan Rice from West Ham United.

Manchester United lifted their first trophy in over five years this past weekend, with Erik ten Hag bringing the good vibes back to the Theatre of Dreams.

Slowly but surely, the Dutchman is building something special, with his eyes always looking forward. With a massive summer window on the horizon, United have to back their manager – whoever the owners are.

Several names have already been linked with an Old Trafford move. Most of them huge players within the game, including Declan Rice.

United are long-term admirers of the England international, who has turned into one of the best pure defensive midfielders in the business.

The addition of Casemiro had me thinking twice about whether United would still move for Rice. Well, we have our answer…

It’s Football Insider with the inside information. They believe that United are ‘still hopeful’ of signing the 24-year-old this summer.

United still think they can convince Rice into a move to Old Trafford, despite the fact the midfielder would prefer to remain in London.

Rice’s current terms expire in 2024, meaning West Ham United’s position is precarious, to say the least…

Sources close to the player set that Rice is ‘dead set’ on a transfer away from the Hammers during this transfer window, with United seemingly ready to spend big on the ever-improving midfielder.

There’s no doubt that Rice would add an awful lot of quality to this midfield, while he’d offer more tactical freedom for the manager, too. This would be a true statement signing, particularly if United can beat out competition from Arsenal to get this deal done.

Do you think a Man United move for Declan Rice would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
