Man United ‘still hoping’ to sign Antony this summer

Man United haven’t given up on their pursuit of Ajax winger Antony just yet…

Erik ten Hag’s squad is slowly starting to take shape. Three signings are through the door. No doubt the gaffer wants at least a couple more to follow.

Amongst the names most heavily linked is Ajax winger Antony. The Brazilian flourished under Ten Hag in the Eredivisie last summer, with the pair wanting a reunion at Old Trafford.

All had gone pretty quiet on that front over the last week or so, with United fearing they had been priced out of a move to sign the talented attacker.

However, talkSPORT Have a different view. They state that United are ‘still hoping’ to sign the 22-year-old this summer.

Antony scored 12 goals last term, while also adding ten assists for Ajax, taking his tally to 22 goal contributions during a title-winning season.

I don’t see any movement on this transfer unless United are prepared to up their offer. Ajax dug their heels in over Lisandro Martinez and you’d expect they’ll be even tougher here as they don’t want to lose two players to the same club in one window.

Despite an excellent start on tour, United’s need to bring in at least another winger is 100% there. If anything, more depth is required. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial have all shone, but aside from those three, who else do you really trust? Anthony Elanga? Facundo Pellistri? Alejandro Garnacho? To put it simply, more bodies are required.

I would imagine this saga will drag on right until the start of the season, though I’ll reiterate, it all comes down to how badly United want to bring Antony to Old Trafford.

  1. Why do we hear such false news from some sources who are playing games or having fun by spreading false rumours about players on transfers saying the deal is done on so and so and so and so is arriving at told Trafford? Are still arriving and is it a very long journey? What do people gain by this?
Then we hear that there is snag in that transfer etc.
