Earlier this morning, we covered a story from The Sun in which it was claimed that Manchester United had agreed a deal totalling £80million to sign Harry Maguire. Furthermore, the article stated that the Englishman was flying into Manchester for a medical today.
Well, the Evening Standard says that’s not the case. In fact, they believe United and Leicester City are some way apart in their valuation, with no deal agreed as of yet despite the rumours…
United are still trying, though, with the two clubs locked in talks in regards to the 26-year-old. So far, the Reds are refusing to meet Leicester’s £90million valuation with Edward Woodward looking to reach a compromise by including add-ons and bonuses in the transfer fee rather than straight-up cash.
The Evening Standard does state that Maguire is eager to make the move to Old Trafford which is a positive, but obviously, nothing will be happening until United meet The Foxes’ valuation of one of their prized assets.
It’s a shame to read contrasting reports, but it’s a positive that both believe United are still firmly in the hunt to sign Maguire. Hopefully, we hear something more positive soon because the Reds simply cannot go into this season with only the current centre-backs they have as they’re just not good enough.
