Man United ‘still interested’ in signing Benjamin Sesko this summer

Man United remain keen on bringing Benjamin Sesko to the club, although there may be a gap in valuation.

With Cristiano Ronaldo still intent on leaving Manchester United, the Old Trafford club are well within their rights to start assessing their options.

Benjamin Sesko is a name that has been linked with the Red Devils over the last fortnight, with the Slovenian’s impressive pre-season performance against Liverpool further forcing the striker into the limelight.

The latest update in the brewing saga comes from Sky Sports News’ Dharmesh Sheth. He took to Twitter yesterday evening to claim that United are ‘still interested’ in signing the player during this window.

However, that deal may be ‘difficult to achieve’ given the gap in valuation. Sesko remains under contract with RB Salzburg, while the Austrian club would prefer to wait until next summer to part with their prized asset.

It’s worth noting that dialogue between the two clubs ‘remains open’, though the overriding feeling is that this move looks unlikely at this stage.

Again, it comes back to Cristiano Ronaldo’s wants and desires. If the Portugal international ends up remaining at the club, then the need to bring in another striker suddenly diminishes.

In an ideal world, Sesko is acquired this summer. No doubt interest in the 19-year-old will only heighten next time around, while the price tag will also likely increase. The young forward would also be able to sit in behind the greatest to ever do it for a full campaign before picking up the baton next time around.

However, Erik ten Hag has been pretty intent on only signing players who fit the system. He isn’t bringing in new faces just for the sake of it.

Do you think Benjamin Sesko would be a good signing for Man United? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
