Man United still keen on doing a deal to sign Juventus’ Emre Can: report

Manchester United’s midfield options fall way short in terms of both quantity and quality. With respect to Fred, Nemanja Matic and Andreas Pereira, it’s just not good enough to have only these three available for selection.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is no doubt scouring the globe to try and find at least one attainable midfield transfer target – though with time running out in the window, us fans are starting to get worried…

Anyway, according to the Daily Express, Juventus’ Emre Can is still on the list. Apparently, United are ‘still keen’ on signing the 26-year-old midfielder before the January deadline slams shut.

With Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba still out injured, United need extra bodies in that dressing room. Can, with Premier League experience, could well be an astute addition of the Red Devils could somehow pull it off.

Although his Liverpool connections could well hamper the deal, Solskaer isn’t giving up hope.

Honestly, if United come through January without a single signing being made, fan furore will undoubtedly hit an all-time high. This is a club who should be challenging for major honours year-in-year-out, right now, the 20-time Premier League champions don’t look anywhere close to that – and it’s largely due to a lack of investment.

Acquiring Can would be an excellent bit of business. He’d be a guaranteed starter week-in-week-out at this club, though I do have my doubts about whether there’s enough time to push this deal through…
