Man United still keen on Rudiger, transfer process to ‘ramp up’ over coming days

Man United still have eyes on Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger.

Ralf Rangnick will be moving upstairs in a consultancy role in the not too distant future, with Erik ten Hag likely to take charge over the summer.

With the arrival of the Dutchman comes new ideas, tactics and strategy. That’ll also mean signings have to be made to fit that system.

One man who has been consistently linked with an Old Trafford switch is Antonio Rudiger. The German’s Chelsea contract expires this summer, meaning he’d be available for free.

Now, we’ve been given an update on Rudiger’s future from the Daily Mail. Once again, it’s’ reiterated that United have ‘expressed an interest’ in signing the 29-year-old defender.

Now that Chelsea are out of the Champions League, the transfer process is expected to now ‘ramp up’, as several overseas clubs prepare to make their move to acquire Rudiger.

Both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are keen on signing Rudiger, meaning United could well find it tough to acquire the German. After all, those two sides will have Champions League football on the table, while United will do well to make it into the Europa League at this point…

I guess it comes down to what Rudiger wants. United can match anyone in terms of weekly wages, but if it’s trophies the German is chasing, I’d be surprised if we win this race…

There’s no doubt Rudiger would be a stunning addition. He’s a centre-back with Premier League experience, a born winner and a considerable upgrade on the current crop of centre-halves we already have at the club.

If Rudiger wants to stay in England, then an Old Trafford switch may well be intriguing for the former AS Roma star. I’d certainly love to see him come in, particularly on a free transfer!
