Man United still pushing to sign Antony from Ajax

Man United are ready to raise their offer to sign Antony, with the player wanting to come.

Manchester United Football Club have made four signings so far. I can argue at least four more are needed if we’re serious about fully backing Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman showed he can get the best out of these players against Liverpool. Hopefully, that instils some belief within that dressing room. However, further depth is required.

A new winger is an absolute must. Ten Hag has tried hard to lure Antony to Old Trafford, though Ajax are remaining firm and not budging from their hefty asking price.

United aren’t giving up in that pursuit, though. According to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, United are still ‘pushing to sign’ the attacker.

Apparently, United have told Ajax they’re prepared to ‘raise their offer’ to sign the Brazilian, which would include an increase in fee while also raising the fee for the initial payment.

On top of that, the player wants to join and he’s ‘made that clear’ to Ajax. When it comes down to it, we may well need that push from Antony for this deal to go through.

Antony is someone who Ten Hag is extremely familiar with. The Dutchman knows his qualities, while also having full belief that Antony is someone who’ll buy into this system from day one.

Whether or not Antony can adapt to the English game remains to be seen. It may take the 22-year-old some time, but Ten Hag wouldn’t be willing to spend such a large chunk on his transfer budget if he didn’t have that confidence.

This is a player who directly contributed to over 20 goals last term. He also has tricks and flicks that can wow a crowd. I love the idea of getting someone who has a genuine personality into that dressing room.
