Man United remain keen on signing Bayern Munich midfielder, Leon Goretzka.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United vision is taking shape. Manchester United are, slowly but surely, getting themselves in amongst title contention.
Moves for Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane simply cannot be understated, though there’s still some work ahead for the Old Trafford club.
With Paul Pogba’s future remaining up in the air, the need for a new midfielder comes along with that. United have seemingly identified Leon Goretzka as that man.
It looked like that door had shut, though journalist Tobi Altschaffl is keeping those dreams alive. He’s claiming that United are ‘still very interested’ in signing the top-class 26-year-old, despite Bayern Munich trying to agree to a new contract with the German.
I mean, I don’t think there’s a club in world football who wouldn’t be interested in Goretzka. He’s amongst the best players in the world in his position and what a signing it’d be for the Old Trafford club.
At this point, though, I’d imagine Goretzka is far more likely to remain in Bavaria, particularly as his contract talks with Bayern ‘went very well’.
To us here at Old Trafford Faithful, this feels like posturing from Goretzka’s agent in order to drag out every single penny from Bayern Munich. Why would he leave that club at this point in time?
Unless United are prepared to blow Goretzka away with a massive financial package, I just don’t see it happening. With the Reds trying to knock overpaying on the head anyway, this does feel like somewhat of a non-starter.
As much as I’d like to dream about seeing Goretzka in United Red. I just don’t see it happening this summer.
