Manchester United have always been known for their willingness to give youth a chance.
Cast your mind back to almost five years ago, when on debut, James Wilson scored two goals on debut to help the Red Devils beat Hull City.
Since then, though, things have gone drastically downhill for the striker whose career has been massively plauged by injuries.
Now, according to ESPN, it is now likely that Wilson will leave United on a permanent move this coming summer.
Aged just 23, Wilson is still young enough to make himself a professional career elsewhere, but he needs a serious run of games to get back up to speed.
It’s a real shame that it hasn’t worked out for him at Old Trafford. He’s obviously a talented lad who is more than capable of scoring goals at any level, but it looks as though there is no way back for him at United.
With Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku and others ahead of him in the pecking order, it’s tough to see where his minutes are going to come from.
If United can manage to get some sort of transfer fee for Wilson, then it makes sense to let him go at this juncture…
