Man United are showing firm interest in signing AS Monaco defender, AXel Disasi.
Manchester United have boasted one of the best defences in the Premier League this term. I guess it helps having a superstar like David de Gea in between the sticks, too.
This week, injuries have struck in that key area. Raphael Varane is out for a few weeks, whereas Lisandro Martinez is sadly done for the season.
That could tempt Erik ten Hag into bringing in a new central defender, particularly with Varane getting up there in age and his minutes are often managed.
Axel Disasi was linked with a Reds switch in the past. Now, his name is back amongst the media in regard to a United transfer.
It’s journalist Ignazio Genuardi with the information. He took to Twitter to share the latest, with Sport Witness relaying those claims.
According to his sources, United are ‘strongly interested’ in signing the 25-year-old defender. However, United will face competition from West Ham United. You’d expect that the 20-time Premier League champions would have enough pull to beat out West Ham, mind.
Check out Ignazio Genuardi’s tweet here:
Disasi is a centre-half who fits more in line with Ten Hag’s way of playing, particularly when you compare him to the likes of Harry Maguire.
The Frenchman also chips in with goals every now and then, scoring six while adding on four assists.
There can be no doubt that Disasi would need time to settle in, hence why it’s ideal he’d be the third or fourth choice defender in the short-term – giving the player plenty of time to get comfortable in his new surroundings.
This does feel like a smart move.
