Man United struggling in the transfer market as £70m offer for 24yo rejected: report

Manchester United’s transfer market struggles are looking set to continue, with Jose Mourinho seeing yet another bid for Alvaro Morata rejected. That’s according to Goal, who write that although the Red Devils have upped their offer from £61m to £70m, Madrid have still said no.

That’s because the club from the Spanish capital are holding out for £79million for the 24-year-old striker, who found the back of the net on 20 occasions last season.

Morata is a wonderful footballer. He knows exactly where the back of the net is and for me, he’d be a wonderful replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic who will be leaving the Theatre of Dreams this summer as he is out of contract.

We’re at the point in the market when pre-season tour is just a few days away, and Edward Woodward must be thinking about just giving into Madrid’s demands and getting a deal over the line. As now, it is starting to scupper Mourinho’s plans.

The gaffer would have liked all of his signings done before the tour began but that looks highly unlikely. By this point last summer, deals for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Eric Bailly and the aforementioned Ibrahimovic were all complete. This time around, we’ve only acquired Victor Lindelof.
