Man United are seemingly looking to add Leon Goretzka to their midfield ranks next summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad is, slowly but surely, taking shape. Credit where it’s due, the Manchester United manager continues to prove people wrong.
After a deal for Jadon Sancho looks all-but done and a move for Raphael Varane looking promising, attentions are turning towards the United midfield.
A new name has been thrown into the ring over the last 24hours or so, with Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka now on Solskjaer’s wishlist.
Apparently, United have tabled a ‘concrete offer’ worth £200k-a-week to sign the top-class 26-year-old. Signing Goretzka won’t be easy, mind, with several Premier League sides, along with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, also showing interest.
Goretzka has been in top form for Munich, but it’s believed the German’s camp are ‘irritated’ that talks over a renewal with the Bavarian outfit are yet to take place.
It’s added that Munich are determined to not lose their star midfielder this summer, while United aren’t actively pursuing a move to sign a new middle-of-the-park star. However, that could change due to Paul Pogba’s future remaining up in the air.
Right now, this feels like a case of United putting the feelers out to gauge exactly where Goretzka’s head is at. It also seems like the German is lobbying for improved terms from his current club – but that can all change pretty quickly.
This one is definitely worth keeping an eye on, but I’d be surprised if we hear anything further on this one during this summer window.
