Manchester United Football Club will not be signing Leonardo Bonucci this summer; a centre-back whom they’ve been linked with.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who are citing Italian reports. Apparently, the AC Milan CEO has ruled out the sale of the elite-level defender, who arrived at the San Siro just twelve months ago from Juventus.
At 31, he’d have brought some much-needed experience to a relatively young centre-back group, and it’s easy to see why Jose Mourinho was targeting a move for the Italy international.
However, it looks as though United will have to turn their attention elsewhere, which is a real shame. Bonucci would have been a wonderful signing, largely due to his sheer determination to win and enjoyment in defending.
With Eric Bailly injured, Victor Lindelof still learning and Phil Jones struggling, it is essential that despite this blow, the club go out and find that veteran centre-back, whoever that may be. I’ve said it time-and-time again on here that my first choice would be Toby Alderweireld, plus, he has Premier League experience and would slot into our back four seamlessly.
