Tottenham Hotspur are set to step up their pursuit of Anthony Martial.
The Frenchman, 22, has struggled since the turn of the year, with the Spurs hierarchy keen to open talks with Martial’s representatives and Edward Woodward. That’s according to the Daily Mail, per The Sun.
Furthermore, the report states that a deal could be done quickly, provided the two Premier League sides can agree upon a transfer fee. Understandably, Mauricio Pochettino is keen to work with the former AS Monaco winger.
Personally, I think United losing Martial this summer is a real possibility. Jose Mourinho struggled to fit the left-winger into his team, particularly following Alexis Sanchez’s arrival.
A player that good doesn’t deserve to waste away on the bench, and you’d fully understand his decision if he wanted to move elsewhere. With all that said, I highly doubt Woodward would agree upon a deal that’d see Martial stay in the Premier League.
With whispers suggesting United are interested in a move for Toby Alderweireld, perhaps some sort of swap deal is the only way that Martial heads to White Hart Lane, but even then, the package would have to be right for Mourinho to sanction it.
