Well well well, it seems as though the Manchester United exit rumours are already happening – and we’re not even at the end of the season yet…
I guess after failing to secure a place in the Premier League top four, the so-called ‘elite’ players within Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad are going to want to leave. Today, it seems as though we’ve learnt the name of our first unhappy Red Devil…
The report comes from ESPN and yep, there are no prizes for guessing who wants out; Paul Pogba.
Apparently, the mercurial Frenchman wants to leave Old Trafford and he’s ‘determined’ to force through a move even if United refuse to sell him this summer.
Unfortunately for the 26-year-old, it’s not as simple as that. Pogba is under contract until 2021 (with the club holding the option to extend his deal by a further year), meaning in reality, the #6 is only halfway through his current deal.
What that tells me is that if United don’t want to sell Pogba then they simply don’t have to – although keeping an unhappy player at the club, particularly one as toxic as he is, probably isn’t the best business decision…
Reportedly, Pogba wants a new challenge. You know what, if he wants to exit United then so be it. No doubt the club would be paid handsomely to let him go because even if the dross football from him continues, you’re paying for Pogba the brand. Whether you like it or not, he’s extremely marketable, but if an offer of say, £100million+ came in, I’d be seriously tempted to cash in and move in a different direction.
He’s only had a negative effect on the dressing room since comign back to Manchester and maybe, just maybe, Sir Alex Ferguson was right to ship him off all those years ago. Who are we to doubt the greatest manager that ever lived, eh?
