Manchester United Football Club put in a much-improved performance at home to Liverpool yesterday, with the 20-time Premier League champions holding the league-leaders to a 1-1 draw.
Before the game, the Red Devils’ chances were hampered when Axel Tuanzebe picked up an injury in the warm-up. The youngster was pencilled to start the encounter, though Marcos Rojo stepped in and that could well have cost us all three points.
With just a few days until United take on Partizan in the Europa League on Thursday, the Reds are now sweating on the fitness of the 21-year-old, with Solskjaer offering an update on Tuanzebe:
“I don’t know how he is,” Solskjaer said of Tuanzebe per the Manchester Evening News. “But hopefully Jesse is soon back, of course, Anthony will be able to play more. We’re gonna have a test on Paul tomorrow and see how he’s at and how long it’ll be before he’s back. Luke? Not too long. So it’s looking brighter and that’s a big plus.”
It’s just a shame to see that Tuanzebe is now sidelined after beginning to make an impact on the first team. The Reds’ academy graduate was well on the way to usurping Victor Lindelof in the team and perhaps now he’s taken a step back in that regard.
There was some good news, though, with Solskjaer expecting Jesse Lingard back soon and an increase in minutes for Anthony Martial. Who knows, perhaps we’ll get some positive updates on Paul Pogba, too.
Hopefully, Tuanzebe isn’t sidelined for too long. Then, he can get back out on the field as quickly as possible and continue to prove his worth.
