Man United are waiting for an injury update on the fitness of two players ahead of their game against Brighton tomorrow.
At this stage, Manchester United have a healthy lead in terms of racing to finishing in the Champions League places. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team have definitely improved this season, though there is still much work ahead.
Right now, it’s about amassing as many points as possible in order to officially confirm our place in the top four. At which point, players can be rested for our Europa League matches – assuming we’re still in that competition, of course…
This weekend’s game against Brighton is another good opportunity to score some points, though Graham Potter’s side have been playing impressive football recently.
Ahead of the game, United are sweating on the fitness of a key duo, as the pair miss training. Neither Anthony Martial nor Victor Lindelof were involved in Friday’s session, leaving them as major doubts for this one.
Check out what the gaffer had to say here:
“Neither of them [Anthony nor Victor] trained this morning. We are still waiting for final confirmation on how they are.” Solskjaer told reporters, including ManUtd.com.
For me, Lindelof is the major concern. Credit where it’s due, he has been playing some pretty good stuff recently. However, if it’s his back again, I’m pretty worried.
The Ice Man has been dealing with that for months now and the only way it’s going to go away is if he’s given a prolonged period of rest. Perhaps that’s what the Reds are trying to do at this point. After all, the double-header against Granada are the most important matches on our fixture list right now.
As for Martial, I don’t see him being risked here, particularly with Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood seemingly fit enough to play. Knee injuries can be extremely serious, thankfully, Martial has avoided ligament damage and again, it’s probably just a case of the Frenchman being given some time off.
You’d like to think United can get the job done without these two this weekend. Hopefully, they’re fully fit and available to play again soon.
