Man United sweating on fitness of Marcus Rashford after injury

Although domestic football is now finished for a few months, Manchester United fans will still be able to see their players in action for their nation’s over the next week or so.

Credit where it’s due, UEFA have done a brilliant job with the Nations League, although it was heartbreak for England last night, getting beaten 3-1 by Holland.

The Reds have two players within Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad and in fact, both hit the back of the net in Portugal yesterday; albeit Jesse Lingard’s cool finish was ruled out thanks to a marginal offside (cheers VAR)…

Rashford’s goal came from the penalty spot as he coolly slotted home after winning the spot-kick himself following a hefty tackle from Matthijs de Ligt.

Shortly after said incident, Rashford’s game was over as he picked up an injury. Denzel Dumfries rushed back to make a last-ditch tackle on the 21-year-old and the United #10 required treatment.

According to the Daily Mirror, United are ‘sweating’ on Rashford’s fitness ahead of their pre-season tour starting next month.

What’s good news is the fact that Rashford wasn’t immediately substituted following the tackle. The young striker soldiered on to half-time, at which point he was replaced by Harry Kane.

Hopefully, it’s nothing serious. For me, pre-season is the most important time in the campaign as you build up those fitness levels before the serious stuff starts. If he misses any of those matches, it’s already a massive setback for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – and the season proper wouldn’t have even gotten’ going…
