Man United have been hit with two new injury concerns, as a pair of midfielders had to be subbed off with injury vs Spurs.
Manchester United Football Club are in a rut. The Red Devils were smashed 3-0 at home by Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend, with Erik ten Hag’s second best – even when it was 11vs11.
As Bruno Fernandes saw red, the situation immediately worsened, with Kobbie Mainoo going down with injury. The England midfielder instantly headed straight down the tunnel after being struck down before half-time.
Then, as the game wore on, Ten Hag had to waste another substitution, with Mason Mount suffering a blow to the head which left him bleeding.
Just when the Old Trafford side were starting to get players back from the treatment room, two more key faces are now fitness doubts, with United sweating on their availability.
When asked about the severity of the injuries, Ten Hag said:
“I can’t say in this moment,” Ten Hag told ManUtd.com. “I have to find out but, of course, when a player is coming off before half-time already, then there are some concerns.
“Also, I have seen how Mason came off. He was bleeding so it’s clear there are some problems there and we have to see how they recover in the coming days.”
Obviously, it’s too early to tell but the Mainoo problem did look a little more concerning. The young midfielder has become a mainstay in the United XI and if he’s out for a prolonged period of time, it could spell trouble for our midfield.
The Mount issue didn’t seem too bad, with the Englishman also taking to social media to allay fears. It felt like a blow rather than a muscular issue so he should be good to go when the lads take on Porto this midweek. Hopefully anyway…
No doubt as the week progresses and we head towards the trip to Portugal, Ten Hag will be giving us regular updates.
Get well soon, lads.
