Man United manager Erik ten Hag is sweating on the fitness of a key trio for the away game vs Aston Villa.
Manchester United Football Club were decent against Real Sociedad in midweek, with the games now coming thick and fast.
Next up, Aston Villa in the Premier League. This represents another opportunity to make up ground on our rivals with a victory.
Managed by Unai Emery, Villa aren’t going to go away lightly. This is going to be a super tough, hard-fought encounter. Ahead of the match, Erik ten Hag has given fans an important team news update.
The manager would confirm that the Reds are sweating on the fitness of a key trio, admitting it’s ‘difficult to say’ whether these guys will be available…
As things stand, the availability of Antony, Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho is not clear.
Check out what Ten Hag had to say when asked about Antony, Martial & Sancho:
“It’s difficult to say in this moment,” the boss told reporters, including ManUtd.com. “I have to talk with the medical and the performance team as they did a programme in Manchester. I have to hear how their progress was and if they can be available for Sunday’s match.”
Let’s start with Antony, who has missed the last couple with what we were told was a minor knock. He’s already been out longer than we initially expected, so I’d hope he’s ready to play here.
Next up, we have to talk about Martial, who has been walking wounded all season. The Frenchman is on the road to recovery again, though United have to take this one extremely carefully. Whether this is the game to bring the attacker back, remains to be seen…
Finally, there’s Sancho. He’s only missed the one match through illness. His issues have come when on the field. The Englishman has been pretty poor for the most part. He’s still got the talent and natural ability to turn that around, though.
