Man United face an anxious wait to learn about an injury suffered by Fred…

Well, I’m still not quite sure how, but Manchester United pulled it off. 2-0 down at half-time? No problem for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side apparently…

The first 45 minutes was borderline unacceptable, the second half was the polar opposite. To a man, United came out with fire in their belly, playing for their manager with a point to prove.

Cristiano Ronaldo stole the show as per usual with a stunning header, but everyone played their part. Sadly, in the dying embers, the joy was halted somewhat due to an apparent injury suffered by Fred.

United are now sweating on the fitness of the Solskjaer favourite, who seemed to suffer a hamstring issue just a few days ahead of a huge clash against Liverpool.

Now I know that some fans have strong feelings about Fred, but Solskjaer trusts him massively and I know this will upset a few – but we’re better with him in the team.

Fred brings work ethic, energy and a desire to win. Obviously, we’d all prefer it if he was slightly better on the ball and could hit the target with his shots, but nobody can be good at every single thing. That’s life.

Hamstring injuries don’t tend to be just a few days. At the very least, I’d assume we’re going to be without the Brazil international for a week or two, which is less than ideal with some huge games coming up.

In terms of replacements, is it finally time to see what Donny van de Beek can do? Failing that, we could also see Paul Pogba move back into midfield. I guess only time will tell…

If unavailable, who should replace Fred in the Man United side? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
