Man United sweating on Marcus Rashford fitness after ankle injury

Manchester United Football Club have been dealt another injury concern, with Marcus Rashford suffering an ankle problem vs Man City.

From the first minute, Marcus Rashford just didn’t look healthy. As Bruno Fernandes was stepping up to take his early penalty, the Englishman is visibly in pain in the background, grabbing at his back and shoulder.

To his credit, Rashford would suck it up and put himself through the pain barrier for the best part of 75 minutes – before succumbing to an ankle issue.

What’s crazy is that Rashford picked up the injury while truly taking one for the team. He’d run half the field in a matter of seconds in order to stop a dangerous City counter-attack, getting the all-important tackle in and calmly laying the ball back to Dean Henderson.

That doesn’t take away from the injury United have been dealt, though, with the Reds now sweating on Rashford’s fitness ahead of a scan…

Check out what Solskjaer had to say on Rashford’s injury here:

“It is one of them. It was a great recovery run, a recovery sprint, he saved maybe a goal, so he sacrificed himself for the team,” Ole told ManUtd.com.

“It is something with his ankle I think. I am not a doctor but hopefully it is not too bad. We will have to scan him in the morning.”

I guess the good news is that Solskjaer seemed pretty positive about the problem. He’s hopeful that the ankle issue isn’t too bad, with the gaffer probably thinking it’s likely a minor impact injury…

Personally, though, I’d give Rashford a couple of weeks off. At the very least, he needs to give his back and shoulder some time to heal up ahead of the all-important run-in for the Old Trafford club.

Don’t forget that this is an issue he’ll be having surgery on over the summer. Which shows how dedicated to the cause our number ten is.

Get well soon, Marcus!
