Although we’re officially less than a week into the 2019 summer transfer window, Manchester United’s intentions are clear. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is trying to bring in youth and get the Reds back to doing what they’ve always done best.
The latest name to be linked with a potential Old Trafford move is Nathan Collins, and according to Football Insider, United have tabled a £7million bid to Stoke City in an effort to sign the teenager.
United scouts have been ‘alerted’ by Collins’ abilities, although the centre-back only made three Championship appearances last season. That gives you a good indication in regards to the sheer talent that the 18-year-old possesses.
Apparently, the Reds are ‘hopeful’ that the offer will be accepted despite the fact that Stoke don’t want to lose a prized asset. The thought is that an offer of £7million for a player who has barely broken into the first-team may just be too good to turn down.
Collins is a raw talent and he will need time to develop. I liken this deal to when United signed the then unknown Chris Smalling from Fulham almost a decade ago now – although you’d like to think that things would go better for the Stoke City man should he make the move to Old Trafford this summer.
