Man United target classy midfielder with £43m release clause: report

Manchester United’s upcoming summer transfer window is an important one. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs money to spend, that much is obvious.

Perhaps the most pressing area of the field is the middle of the park. Paul Pogba aside, the Red Devils are looking poor in a key position. If Ander Herrera leaves things will look even worse.

I always wondered how long it’d be before Thomas Partey is linked with an Old Trafford move. Today is that day, with the report coming from Citi News Room.

They say that the Atletico Madrid man is a ‘prime target’ for United, with the Ghanaian having a €50m (£43m) release clause, which is extremely cheap in this day and age.

Apparently, sources close to the 25-year-old are claiming that Partey is keen on a United switch as it is his dream to play in the Premier League.

There’s no doubt that Partey would be a huge upgrade on what we have. He’s combative, physical and can get around the park, while also being capable of playing a forward pass. I look at him as a mixture of both Herrera and Nemanja Matic, and it’d be brilliant if the club could sign him, particularly so cheaply.

There’s no doubt they’ll be other interested parties so Edward Woodward will definitely have to act quickly to get this deal over the line.
