Man United transfer target, Frenkie de Jong, is ‘upset’ with what’s unfolding at Barcelona.
Unless you spent the summer transfer window living under a rock, you’ll know all about Manchester United’s pursuit of Frenkie de Jong.
The Old Trafford club desperately wanted to bring in the mega-talented Dutchman, who had previously worked with Ten Hag over in the Eredivisie with Ajax.
Sadly, that chase fell short with De Jong opting to remain at the Camp Nou, even though there was a good chance he’d remain on the fringes of their first team.
Well, fast-forward a few months and that’s exactly what’s happening. De Jong has been used sparingly. What’s upsetting the midfielder the most is his lack of minutes in the so-called ‘big’ matches.
It’s Diario SPORT with the claim. They go as far as saying that the top United target is ‘upset’ with his current situation, while he’s now considering his future at the club if this continues.
De Jong seemingly hasn’t featured as much as he thought. Which always felt likely, given it was Barca who were trying to push the 25-year-old out of the door as they looked to raise some funds.
OTF’s verdict
Should United move for De Jong? Well, there’s no doubt he still remains perfect for this system. I guess it comes down to whether the ship has sailed or not.
You also have to consider whether the money is there. United spent in excess of £200million over the summer. I would imagine the club would not have signed Casemiro if they managed to get De Jong in. That has to be a factor.
It’ll certainly be intriguing to see how this one plays out, though.
