Man United-linked striker, Sasa Kalajdzic, is still expected to leave Stuttgart this summer.
We’re at that stage in the window where all the transfer stories are becoming somewhat tiring. Manchester United continue to be linked with what feels like every name under the sun, during a wholly disappointing window thus far.
A new striker has emerged as a priority in the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo’s uncertain future. Several names have been linked, including Sasa Kalajdzic.
All had gone somewhat quiet on that front over the last week or so, though journalist Florian Plettenberg has a mixed update for us Red Devils fans.
As of now, there is ‘no official offer’ from United for Kalajdzic. However, his current club, Stuttgart, ‘expects’ the United transfer target to leave this summer. A contract extension hasn’t been ruled out with the Bundesliga outfit, though that looks unlikely.
Around £21m (€25m) would get a deal done for the Austrian striker, while Stuttgart already have a replacement lined up.
Kalajdzic isn’t a name I’m all-too-familiar with, though he did score six goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances last term. Sure, that’s a small sample size but it’s a decent return. In the season prior, the Austrian hit 17 goals in 36 matches.
Whether or not the tall 25-year-old is ready to make the leap up to a club like United remains to be seen. However, at this point, we’re desperate.
If Ronaldo gets his wish of leaving, the only viable striker currently at the club is Anthony Martial. The Frenchman would absolutely need some help, particularly when you factor in his jagged injury history.
At this stage, it feels like a waiting game. Stuttgart are sitting patiently standing by and waiting for a bid from United or elsewhere. Whether that offer will come remains to be seen.
