Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is targeting a big-money move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.
That’s according to the Daily Mirror, who add that the self-proclaimed Special One would see the Italy international as a marquee signature.
Mourinho has been quoted a colossal £100million figure if PSG are to let the 25-year-old leave the Parc des Princes, with the United gaffer labelling Verratti as his top midfield priority during this window.
Should the Red Devils pull off the move, Verratti will be partnered with Fred in the midfield; presumably alongside Paul Pogba, too.
This is a trio that has the potential to dominate the Premier League for the next half-decade. Pogba will finally be allowed the freedom that his immense attacking talents deserve as he’ll know that there are two energetic, hard-working box-to-box players sitting in-behind him.
I’ve always thought that Verratti has been an underrated player for the last few years. He’s up there amongst the best in the business, hence why PSG are charging an arm and a leg to let him go.
However, I wouldn’t expect any deal to happen soon, particularly when there is such big money involved.
