Man United are looking at the Arsenal game in early September for a possible Rasmus Hojlund debut.
Manchester United Football Club now have Rasmus Hojlund through the door, with the Dane delighted to be playing for the club he supported as a kid.
The 20-year-old has arrived at Old Trafford injured. He’s dealing with a semi-serious back issue that will have to be managed carefully, at least in the short term.
For United, they’ll be wanting to integrate the striker into the squad training sessions as soon as possible, to build up that rapport with his teammate, while Hojlund also works on his match fitness.
The rumours have been swirling about when we could see Hojlund in action. Now, the usually reliable Athletic have had their say. They claim United ‘are targeting’ a huge away game at Arsenal, on September 3rd, as a possible Hojlund debut outing.
That game takes place in a little under a month from now, giving Hojlund numerous weeks to build up his fitness and start working with the rest of the squad. Right now, he’s on an individual training programme.
Understandably, United aren’t putting a definite date on when we can expect to see Hojlund, though if he does feature against Arsenal, this will be United’s third game of the season. Meaning he would be unavailable against both Wolves this Monday and Spurs the weekend after.
It’s about finding that sweet spot. United do not want to rush him back too soon, but they want to see what he’s made of sooner rather than later. The cautious approach is the sensible one, although we’re all chomping at the bit to see him in action, as it has been ages since we’ve had a supremely talented young striker on the books.
