Over the summer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United took the bold decision to thin out the squad and put their faith in youth.
At this point, it’s looking like a serious mistake. The talented teenagers on Reds’ books are struggling to fill the void, though injuries haven’t helped.
One player who simply had to be moved on was Alexis Sanchez. He was becoming more of a hindrance than a help, in large part due to those huge wages he was collecting with very little coming in the way of production. He’d head to Inter Milan on a season-long loan.
Well, according to The Sun, Sanchez has ‘no chance’ of securing an Old Trafford return regardless of his form with the Serie A side. Furthermore, United have named their price to sell the flop permanently; £25million.
By all accounts, the 30-year-old has started brightly with Inter and I’m genuinely happy for him. However, he didn’t do it at United when it mattered to us fans – and the majority are already done with him so I’d doubt we’d be willing to give him another opportunity.
I struggle with the £25million fee, though, particularly for a man who is definitely on the decline as a footballer. At this point, I’d snap a buyer’s hand off if they presented an offer of around £10million…
