Manchester United had a horrendous summer transfer window. Jose Mourinho wasn’t granted the signings he desired. That obviously left a sour taste in the mouth.
January is a notoriously time to buy, so it looks as though we’ll be planning for next summer, in order to right a few wrongs. One player who openly admitted he wanted to leave the Red Devils a month or so ago was Anthony Martial. We’re unsure as to whether that stance has changed.
However, if United are to let the superstar Frenchman leave for Inter Milan, they’re going to demand that Ivan Perisic is involved in any potential swap. That’s according to a Daily Mirror report, per the excellent Peoples Person.
Mourinho has chased Perisic previously. His brilliance at the World Cup was there for all to see. He’d undoubtedly be a marked upgrade on what we have over on that left-hand side, but there is some cause for concern.
Obviously, it’d mean reduced playing time for Marcus Rashford, and who knows what’ll happen to Alexis Sanchez should the deal go through? Personally, I’ve always thought that the Chilean is better through the middle, but then that presents its own issues with Romelu Lukaku; unless you play a two up top.
For now, I think the key is to move away from an unhappy Martial and bring someone in who wants to be here. It’ll definitely be interesting to see how it plays out, though…
