Man United to give Solskjaer £75m budget to spend in January if needed: report

Manchester United made three first-team signings over the summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spending big on the defence.

Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have already proven their worth, while Daniel James made instant impact on debut. The money seems to have been spent wisely.

The good news for the Baby Faced Assassin is that he’ll be given a hefty budget to buy new players in January – should he so choose. The story comes from The Sun, who state that the Norweigan manager will be able to use the £75million raised by the Romelu Lukaku sale.

Apparently, the money is there to bolster the squad if United need it to aid their top-four challenge this season, which does make sense given that Lukaku wasn’t directly replaced following his departure.

As is always the case though, it’s notoriously tough to buy players during the mid-season window. Clubs don’t want to sell while the footballers themselves can potentially be cup-tied. Often, you pay a premium for buying in January and it’s not something United have been particularly good at recently – with Alexis Sanchez being the case-in-point.

Sure, if the right player comes around then go for it, but don’t sign players for the sake of it. Thankfully, Solskjaer seems to be pretty good at that already.
