Manchester United have had a pretty good few days. A deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka was confirmed before the club pushed ahead with a new contract for Marcus Rashford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn’t stopping there, though, as according to The Telegraph, the Baby Faced Assassin is ‘hoping’ to secure another signing before United jet out to Australia to begin their pre-season tour on Sunday.
Furthermore, it is being claimed by the same source that United are ‘expected’ to make a first formal approach for Sean Longstaff this week.
On June 27th, we covered a story from the BBC which claimed that United are ‘trying’ to sign the Newcastle midfielder this summer. Now it seems as though the Reds are ready to firm up their interest with an official bid.
It does feel as though the 20-time Premier League champions have timed this well. Newcastle are in a mess at the moment and dealing directly with Mike Ashley seems to be a wise strategy as we all know how much he loves to reap in the cash.
Although no official price is put on the bid United are supposedly set to make, The Telegraph state that Longstaff is rated at £25million, which in this day and age, for a player who is only going to get better over the next few years, is an excellent price. No doubt the Reds will start the bidding lower than the aforementioned fee, although Edward Woodward will have to act quickly if he wants a deal done before Sunday.
