Manchester united have already made two signings, with the club looking to press on and bring in more fresh faces.

It feels to me as though the next position of priority is adding a new central midfielder. That makes sense given the losses of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini recently.

The name who continues to be linked with a potential Old Trafford switch is Sean Longstaff. The latest story on his future comes from the Daily Mail, who says that United will make their opening offer for the midfielder ‘next week’.

Apparently, the bid will be £15million plus add-ons and bonuses, while the club look to bring in some fresh faces in a key area of the field.

I’d still like to see United sign two midfielders this summer – an all-rounder, like Longstaff, and a more offensive-minded player who can offer an alternative to Paul Pogba.

Although Longstaff may not be the glamour name that some fans crave for, it doesn’t mean he’s any less effective. In terms of comparison, I liken him to Michael Carrick, a player who cruises through games and keeps things ticking over nicely.

If the club can get the deal done for around £25million it’s great business, although that’s obviously easier said than done, it’d be an excellent move as Longstaff has massive potential.
