Man United to offer £42m for Christian Eriksen in January: report

Manchester United Football Club have two big needs; midfield and striker.

Sure, a 20+ goal-a-season forward would be ideal, but what use is that if the Red Devils don’t have someone who can create the chances?

That’s why, for me, United’s main aim in the January transfer window should be an attacking midfielder. Well, according to the latest story from El Desmarque, translated via The Sun, that may well be the case…

Their story claims that United are ready to offer £42million in January for midfielder Christian Eriksen – with the Old Trafford club trying to tempt Tottenham Hotspur chief Daniel Levy into a quick sale.

The Reds made a late, summer move to try and sign Eriksen before the window slammed shut, though apparently, the Dane has a gentlemen’s agreement in place that he will not move to another English club.

However, the prospect that Levy could bank £40million for a player who could walk away for free in five months’ time could well change the feeling around Spurs.

Eriksen has barely played for Spurs this term, and when he has featured, the 27-year-old has largely disappointed. Whether or not that’s due to his future being up in the air remains to be seen, though us United fans would be daft to think that he wouldn’t improve us.

If somehow, United can persuade him to want to make a move to Old Trafford then I’m all for it. However, if Eriksen isn’t keen on the move then the last thing the 20-time Premier League champions need right now is unhappy players at the club.
