Man United to try and sign Erling Haaland in January, deal will cost £60m+: report

For the season’s majority, Manchester United fans have been rightly rueing the decision to let both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez leave without replacement.

However, it seems as though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to right those wrongs; preferably sooner rather than later. Once again, the name that keeps popping up is Erling Braut Haaland.

The story comes from The Times (subscription required) who state that United are going to try and tempt RB Salzburg into parting with their prized asset in January rather than the summer – and a deal will cost £60million+.

Haaland has scored a remarkable 26 goals in 18 games across all competitions, including seven in four Champions League fixtures – which shows just how good he is against the best-of-the-best.

Initially, I was somewhat worried about the possibility of signing Haaland. Let’s be honest, the Austrian league should be no real barometer of a player’s talent, though the fact that he can do it in Europe is massively encouraging.

January has always been a notoriously time to buy, though Salzburg won’t be used to getting such massive offers for their players. Perhaps there’s a slim chance United can pull off this deal – though they should expect serious competition from Europe’s elite sides along the way.

Hopefully, Solskjaer’s relationship with the striker can prove key into ensuring the young Norweigan chooses United over anyone else…
