Man United have set their sights on Stoke City’s Emre Tezgel.
For so long, Manchester United have been intent on developing youth and signing the emerging talents. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has carried that mantra proudly throughout his time as manager.
Now, the Baby Faced Assassin has eyed another potential gem for the future in the form of Emre Tezgel.
The story comes from the Daily Mail, who a few days ago wrote that Stoke City are facing a battle to hold onto the teen striker.
United are amongst the sides ‘tracking’ the prolific young striker, who has been described as a ‘Harry Kane type-forward’ by Stoke’s academy director, Gareth Owen.
The Old Trafford club face some stiff competition to lure Tezgel to the Theatre of Dreams, mind, with both Chelsea and Manchester City also keen. That alone should tell you how talented this young man is.
Tezgel already has seven goals in just four U18 games this term, including a hat-trick against Liverpool. The young man is also already part of England’s U17 setup.
Understandably, the so-called larger clubs are beginning to circle and take notice of Tezgel’s talent. Now, it looks only a matter of time before the young Englishman moves on from The Potters.
As is always the case in this country, there’s no better place to hone your talent as a young player than here at Old Trafford. He’d be given time to grow and improve as a player, while given ample opportunity when deemed ready to play for the first-team.
We also have to be honest with ourselves. Both Chelsea and City are ahead of us when it comes to challenging for the title, so if Tezgel wants to go down that route, it may be tough for us to sign him.
I also wouldn’t rule out Tezgel following the Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham approach of moving abroad. That has worked wonders for those guys, with a view to moving back to England in the future.
