Just a couple of days ago, Manchester United’s interest in Timo Werner was confirmed, as we covered a story from ESPN who claimed that the Reds were ‘monitoring’ the German.
Well today, we been offered another update in the brewing Werner saga. It comes mainly from the Manchester Evening News, though they do cite another couple of sources.
According to their own sources, the MEN state that United are ‘tracking’ the prolific 24-year-old Werner. Right now, they’re ‘considering’ making a move for the RB Leipzig striker, despite the fact he’s not yet amongst their priority targets.
Right now, Liverpool remain the firm favourites to sign Werner, though the story adds that Werner ‘would be willing’ to join United – but only if his proposed move to Anfield fails…
First and foremost, United shouldn’t play second fiddle to anyone. If Werner doesn’t want to be here as his first choice then I’d pull the plug immediately.
That said, 30 goals in 39 appearances has to be respected. That’s a truly unbelievable statistic, particularly for the RB Leipzig man who is only going to improve. Hopefully, Werner wants an Old Trafford move because he’s an incredible talent.
