Man United target Ben White is having a ‘fantastic season’, his teammate Adam Lallana has claimed.
Manchester United Football Club needs a centre-half this summer. Day-in-day-out, the Old Trafford outfit are being linked with a new name.
Amongst those mentioned is Ben White, who Manchester United hold interest in, according to the usually-reliable Jonathan Shrager.
White, 23, is loving life during his debut season in the Premier League, following a summer during which a move to Leeds United would fail. Credit where it’s due, Brighton were reluctant to let their man go and now they’re reaping the rewards.
Now, the 23-year-old United summer transfer target has been lauded with praise by his teammate, Adam Lallana. The Englishman was commended for his versatility and being a very level-headed lad.
Check out what Lallana had to say about White here:
“He’s very, very versatile. He can play anywhere across the back and that’s in a back five.
“He has played central midfield this season and has consistently been playing at a high level, so, of course, he’s going to attract interest.
“But he’s a very level-headed lad and you can see that he’s a very good player, week in and week out in what is his first season in the Premier League.”
I know he’s not the big name that many were expecting, but you have to admire White’s game. Most importantly, he’s proven his worth in the Premier League, while a move to Old Trafford would mean he’d have a better quality of players around him – so you’d expect him to become even more accomplished.
Okay, so he’s no Dayot Upamecano but as Lallana says, White is versatile, a hard worker and someone who has been playing at a high level all season. What’s not to like about that…?
The only stumbling block could be transfer fee. Brighton rejected bids of around £50million for White last summer before he’d even play a minute of Premier League football. You’d expect that fee has only risen since then. Do United have that sort of cash to spend this coming summer? Only time will tell…
