Manchester United Football Club have been on a pretty good run recently, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer propelling his team up the table while still fighting it out in the cup competitions, too.
A large reason behind that was the addition of Bruno Fernandes, who is single-handedly shaping our long-term future. However, several others deserve credit for an up-turn in form over the last few months. Amongst those is Nemanja Matic.
I’ll be the first to admit that I thought Matic’s career at Old Trafford was over. However, in the injury absence of Scott McTominay, the Serb stepped up massively when his team needed him the most.
Now, it looks like Matic is here to stay. That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who state that United have triggered the one-year contract extension in the key star’s contract. Furthermore, the ex-Chelsea player is in talks about signing a new deal in Manchester.
This comes shortly after manager Solskjaer confirmed that Matic would be staying at Old Trafford, now, it looks as though a deal that’ll keep him here for at least the next twelve months has been sorted.
Matic has undoubtedly earned this deal. He’s worked his socks off for it and now his prospects at making it to EURO 2020 (if it even takes place) seem much better.
