Man United will be boosted by the return to first-team training of a trio of players this week.
Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United squad is pretty deep when everyone is fit. The Red Devils boast a strong dressing room, as well as having a great starting line-up.
However, that squad has been depleted through injury recently. We’ve been without Anthony Martial for large periods. He’s set to be missing again this evening when Spurs come to town.
There was some good news on the treatment table front, with a trio of first-teamers ‘making good progress’. They’re all set to make their training return this week, according to the boss.
Donny van de Beek, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are all due back out on the pitches, bolstering Ten Hag’s available options ahead of a busy period in the season.
When asked directly about Van de Beek, Maguire and Wan-Bissaka, the gaffer had this to say:
“They are making good progress, all, and they will all return in team training this week.” Ten Hag responded, per ManUtd.com.
These guys have quietly been out for a while now, giving Ten Hag a much thinner squad to work with. The sooner they’re all back and available for selection, the better it’ll be.
It just allows for more rotation at this gruelling portion of the schedule, which is obviously only a positive thing.
For Maguire in particular, time is running out for the Red Devils captain to ensure he’s firmly in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup plans. The Englishman will be hoping he’s given his fair share of minutes, as he looks to prove his fitness ahead of Qatar 2022.
Sadly, for both Van de Beek and Wan-Bissaka, those World Cup dreams are probably already dead at this point. The pair will just be looking forward to returning to fitness and hopefully playing their part for the 20-time Premier League champions this season.
